Effect of Acupuncture on Nitric Oxide Synthase Expression in Cerebral Cortex of Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats

Effect of acupuncture on the expressions of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and neuronal NOS (nNOS) in the cerebral cortex of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats was investigated. Animals were divided into four groups; the control group, the nondiabetic and acupunctured group, the STZ-induced diabetes group, and the STZ-induced diabetic and acupunctured group. To produce the diabetic animal model, a single intraperitoneal injection of STZ (50 mg/kg) was given to each animal; animals of the nondiabetic groups received equivalent amounts of normal saline, also via intraperitoneal injection. From the results, acupuncture was shown to increase the numbers of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-diaphorase-positive and nNOS-positive neurons in STZ-induced diabetic rats. From the present study, it may be suggested that acupuncture modulates NOS and nNOS expressions in the cerebral cortex under diabetic conditions.

Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis with Electromagnetic Millimeter Waves Applied to Acupuncture Points - a Randomized Double Blind Clinical Study

The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of electromagnetic millimeter waves (MW) applied to acupuncture points in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Twelve patients with RA were exposed to MW with power 2.5 mW and band frequency 54-64 GHz. MW were applied to the acupuncture points of the affected joints in a double blind manner. At least 2 and maximum 4 points were consecutively exposed to MW during one session. Total exposure time consisted of 40 minutes. According to the study design, group I received only real millimeter wave therapy (MWT) sessions, group II only sham sessions. Group III was exposed to MW in a random cross-over manner. Pain intensity, joint stiffness and laboratory parameters were recorded before, during, and immediately after the treatment. The study was discontinued because of beneficial therapeutic effects of MWT. Patients from group I (n = 4) reported significant pain relief and reduced joint stiffness during and after the course of therapy. Patients from group II (n = 4) revealed no improvement during the study. Patients from group III reported the changes of pain and joint stiffness only after real MW sessions. After further large-scale clinical investigations MWT may become a non-invasive adjunct in therapy of patients with RA.

Umbilical Diagnosis as a Non-Invasive Visual Diagnostic Aide

Using Bi-Digital O-ring Test (Omura, Y., 1977-2002; BDORT), we have researched the abnormal shapes of the umbilicus and the surrounding areas of the umbilicus, and the relationship between diseased internal organs and abnormal shape and direction of the radial sulcus of the umbilicus for several years. In this report we have mapped the organ representation area of the umbilicus and its surrounding areas of a healthy person by using BDORT. Then the abnormal organs around the umbilicus of the patients with certain diseases were mapped by using BDORT. Also, Oncogene C-fos Ab2 positive response network (specially relation between the radial sulcus and the disease) of the cancer response (Oncogene C-fos Ab2) positive person were examined all over the body. In many cases, the radial sulcus from the umbilicus and the organ representation area of abnormal organs at the umbilicus of diseased person mapped using BDORT were highly correlated. Abnormality observed in a specific organ with strong resonance by BDORT meridian network was connected to the umbilicus. Mapped chart of the organ representation area surrounding the umbilicus is clinically very useful for non-invasive umbilical diagnosis.

Effects of Electroacupuncture on Pressor Response to Angiotensin-(1-7) by Amino Acid Release in the Rostral Ventrolateral Medulla

Unilateral microinjection of Angiotensin-(1-7)[Ang-(1-7)] into the rostral ventrolateral medulla (RVLM) of anesthetized rats caused an increase in mean arterial pressure (MAP) accompanied by an increased release of excitatory amino acid (EAA) glutamate. In contrast, microinjection of Ang779, a selective antagonist of Ang-(1-7) receptor, into the RVLM caused a decrease in MAP accompanied by a deceased release of EAA glutamate as well as an increased release of inhibitory amino acid (IAA) glycine, taurine and g-aminobutyric acid. After electroacupuncture (EA) stimulation at "Zusanti"(St.36) for 20 min, the above effects of Ang-(1-7) or Ang779 attenuated. These results suggest that attenuation of EA on the pressor effect of Ang-(l -7) or the depressor effect of Ang779 may be through regulating the corresponding amino acid neurotransmitter release in the RVLM.

Contrary to the present practice of measurement of cardiovascular risk factors or inflammatory risk factors such as C-Reactive Protein (CRP) from a blood sample from the vein of one arm, by using the Bi-Digital O-Ring Test Resonance Phenomena between 2 identical substances, one can non-invasively detect the approximate location on the body of abnormally increased risk factors in just 2 minutes, by detecting the resonance with L-Homocystine, even when blood CRP failed to detect any abnormality. This is performed by projecting a 0.5~5mW red spectral laser beam with 560-670nm wavelength, to at least 6 standard parts of the body, when one of the control risk markers placed next to the laser beam also exists in the part of the body tested. It is generally believed that CRP is increased in the presence of acute myocardial infarct, chronic rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, metabolic abnormalities such as often detected in diabetes, inflammation and underlying infection of the cardiovascular system, and in some cancers. However, in our study, when the clinical significance of CRP and L-Homocystine was compared, we found that CRP often was not increased when there was extensive infection of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis as well as asymptomatic infection by Cytomegalovirus, Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1, Human Herpes Virus Type 6, Borrelia Burgdorferi, or Chlamydia Trachomatis in the heart (and other parts of the body), particularly when there was liver cell dysfunction such as an increase in ALT. In contrast, L-Homocystine was often increased in the presence of localized infections of the heart and other parts of the body. For screening of Cardio-Vascular diseases by this method, 0.5mg of L-Homocystine as a control marker was found to be the most sensitive and reliable, compared with most effective amount of CRP, 0.5ng, for detecting early Cardio-Vascular problems due to various localized infections. About 0.5ng of cardiac Troponin T and cardiac Troponin I were also useful for detecting early stages of heart disease but they are not as sensitive as L-Homocystine. Once the pathogenic factors were identified, the effective medication was given, and the Selective Drug Uptake Enhancement Method (originally discovered by the first author in 1990) was applied after the effective drug was administered, to selectively deliver the medication to the pathological area, while reducing drug uptake to the normal parts of the body. As a result, the therapeutic effect was markedly accelerated.

A Patient with MRSA Infection to Prosthesis of Femoral Head Diagnosed Non-Invasively Using Bi-Digital O-Ring Test: A Clinical Case Report

Prosthesis of femoral head is a common surgical procedure, but the diagnosis of infection associated with the prosthesis remains difficult. We diagnosed non-invasively methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection of prosthesis of femoral head with Bi-Digital O-Ring Test (BDORT). BDORT uses the resonance phenomenon between 2 identical substances, and electromagnetic field principle. The method can non-invasively detect viral & bacterial infection. Accuracy of the BDORT findings was confirmed through bacterial culture & sensitivity test to antibiotics. Patient was successfully treated with operation of evulsion of the prosthesis of femoral head and administration of antibiotics and Cilantro. The drug compatibility was tested with BDORT. BDORT was an effective technique for non-invasively detecting infection of prosthesis and selecting the most effective antibiotics.
